As users view and click these ads while interacting with these entertainment websites, the website makes money even though its viewers are not spending money. Most Social Networks follow a similar theme.

These websites normally feature massive social media interaction and can become overnight sensations due to the frequency of sharing between friends. With larger number of people interacting with the site, the chance of making click thru profits from the ads increases expoentially. Furthermore, with proven traffic records, space can be sold or auction off to other specific businesses that want to target your audience hence making the company a more guaranteed profit stream.

Downsides

These website are nearly completely multimedia based and literally cannot be optimized for Search Engines. The one true SEO tactic that actually works is traffic. Sadly, traffic has to be generated and without a marketing strategy to start this snowball effect of traffic, you may never get off the ground. Starting is the hardest part and making updates to website abilities to keep people coming back.
